HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa shut its doors on Monday, Nov. 2, starting a $50 million renovation that will keep the north-end oceanfront hotel dark until a planned reopening in mid-April 2027.
The closure touches about 200 employees Department of Employment and Workforce. The 420-room resort, which includes 32 suites, sits on 24 acres at 2 Grasslawn Ave.
Work follows a recent refresh of the guest rooms and now turns to the public areas. Plans call for a new lobby that opens toward the ocean and five new places to eat and drink: Cordelia’s, a lobby lounge; Breakwater Provisions for coffee and tea; Saltwater Social with Lowcountry dishes; Port House for fine dining; and Shoreline at the pools.
The Heavenly Spa will grow into a wellness campus with an infrared sauna, cold-plunge showers and a Tranquility Garden, and the treatment room count will rise to 11. An adults-only pool called Stillwater is planned, along with updates to roughly 40,000 square feet of meeting and event space and the Grand Event Lawn.
