NIL stands for Name, Image, and Likeness. South Carolina's NIL law (H4957, signed May 2024) applies to intercollegiate athletes only — meaning college athletes at University of South Carolina Beaufort and Technical College of the Lowcountry can earn through endorsements, sponsorships, and brand partnerships. High school NIL is NOT permitted in South Carolina. The SCHSL prohibits student athletes from receiving compensation for their name, image, or likeness under Article III, Section 14 of the SCHSL Constitution.
