PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Carolina Panthers left Philadelphia with a 25-14 win over the Eagles on Sunday, a sloppy but effective road victory that lifted Carolina to 3-2 and kept the Charlotte team in first place in the NFC South.

Bryce Young passed for 281 yards, and both of his touchdown throws went to tight end Tommy Tremble. Chuba Hubbard carried the load on the ground with 120 rushing yards and a touchdown of his own. Tremble marked one of his scores with a boxing routine in the end zone, a nod to the city that made Rocky famous.

The defense set the tone from the opening snap. Linebacker Bobby Okereke dropped Eagles backup quarterback Tanner McKee on the first play from scrimmage, and Philadelphia punted on each of its first five possessions. McKee, making the third start of his career, completed 26 of 45 passes for 215 yards. His 19-yard touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith early in the fourth quarter cut the margin to 19-14, but Philadelphia never got closer, as a fumble on its next series cost McKee a 12-yard loss.

Philadelphia was badly depleted. Jalen Hurts is sidelined on injured reserve because of a calf blood clot, and Saquon Barkley sat out a second straight week with a hamstring problem. The Eagles fell to 2-4 and are on a four-game skid, something that had not happened to them since 2020.

Carolina did plenty to make it harder on itself. Carolina was flagged eight times for 105 yards before halftime and finished with the most penalty yardage in franchise history. Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, the first defensive coordinator the Panthers ever had, kept Young under pressure with blitzes for much of the afternoon.
