HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — A locally owned coffee company makes its south-end expansion official Friday, Oct. 16, when the Hilton Head Island Chamber of Commerce holds a ribbon-cutting at the new Hilton Head Island Coffee Roasters shop on New Orleans Road.
The chamber has the event on its calendar for a half hour starting at 10 a.m., in Suite 101 at 38C New Orleans Road on the island’s south end. Anyone who wants to watch is invited.
Customers have been able to buy drinks there since a soft opening in June. Friday marks the formal start for what is the company’s second storefront on the island.
The roaster got its start about five years ago on Cardinal Road, near the north end, where it still roasts beans and pulls espresso. The newer shop was laid out as part coffee bar, part retail space, with more seats and room to shop.
Its shelves carry bags of beans roasted by the company, local honey, books and mugs, plus apparel printed by a Hilton Head Island nonprofit that creates jobs and social outlets for adults living with disabilities.
Beyond its two shops, the company sells its coffee through wholesale accounts around the Lowcountry and at stores such as the Palmetto Dunes General Store and Piggly Wiggly.
