Sumter School Board Candidate Forum Scheduled
The Sumter School District Teacher Forum is set to host a school board candidate forum on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 5 to 6 p.m. The event will take place at the Crestwood High School Fine Arts Center, located at 2000 Oswego Highway in Sumter, SC 29153.
All 15 board candidates from the five area races will have the opportunity to respond to questions submitted by district teachers. Following the forum, a meet-and-greet session with the candidates is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m.

The Sumter Item will provide ongoing election coverage, publishing weekly race stories that will cover all five areas with open seats in November. These areas include Areas 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8. The Sumter Item received first place in Community Service journalism in the 2022 South Carolina Press Association Awards Contest for all newspapers.
