Beaufort, SC—As the Fourth of July approaches, residents and visitors in Beaufort County should prepare for a range of grocery store hours and festive events scheduled over the holiday weekend. Most grocery stores are extending their hours to accommodate shoppers, while various activities are planned to celebrate Independence Day.

Grocery Store Hours

Food Lion will welcome shoppers from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., while both Kroger and Walmart will operate from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Aldi will have limited hours, opening from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 4.

Multiple Publix locations will also maintain varying hours: the Beaufort Plaza, Lady’s Island, May River Crossing, Buckwalter Place, and Island Crossing branches will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. In contrast, the Bluffton Commons at Belfair, Festival Centre at Indigo Park, and New River Crossing stores will close earlier, at 7 p.m.

Harris Teeter’s Hilton Head Park Plaza and Lady’s Island locations will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., with the Hilton Head Main Street Village location having the same hours. The Fresh Market is set to welcome customers from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., while Target will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

For members of Sam’s Club, Plus members can shop beginning at 8 a.m., while regular members can enter starting at 10 a.m.; all members must exit by 6 p.m. Piggly Wiggly will operate with the Hilton Head location open from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the Port Royal branch from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

ABC Liquor Stores will remain open, although some may have adjusted hours. Additionally, all banks and U.S. Postal Service offices in the area will be closed on July 4, with emergency services remaining operational.

Holiday Events

This year’s holiday events in Beaufort County include a variety of community activities, beginning with the Fourth Annual Firecracker 5K Run at 8 a.m. in downtown Beaufort. Festivities will also include a county-wide Salute from the Shore Flyover, which will take place at 1 p.m. and can be seen across most areas of Beaufort County.

In Port Royal, families can revel in the atmosphere of live music and children’s activities starting at 5 p.m., culminating with a spectacular fireworks display after dark at The Sands. The Fripp Island Golf Cart Parade will start the day with a colorful celebration at 9 a.m.

At 9:30 a.m., the Harbour Town Independence Day Parade will commence, followed by HarbourFest Fireworks at dusk after entertainment begins at 6:30 p.m. at Shelter Cove Harbour. Hilton Head Island will feature a concert by Gregg Russell at 8 p.m. under the Liberty Oak.

On St. Helena Island, the Juke Joint Jam will celebrate Gullah Geechee culture starting at 7 p.m., with tickets priced at $28. The Bluffton Independence Day Pre-Party on July 3 from 5 to 9 p.m. will feature fireworks at 9 p.m.

Government Offices and Services

Beaufort County residents should be aware that government offices, including those of the Town of Bluffton, Town of Hilton Head, City of Beaufort, and Town of Port Royal, will be closed on July 4, reopening on July 7. The Convenience Centers in Beaufort County will be closed on July 4, reopening on July 5. However, Hilton Head Island Airport and Beaufort Executive Airport will remain open throughout the holiday.
