Hilton Head Island’s cherished Bullies BBQ will reopen on May 1, 2025, after a short closure. The beloved restaurant, established in 2012, returns under the leadership of founder Bob Sutton who will partner with local businessman Jeff Haines. Situated at 3 Regency Parkway, the restaurant will continue to serve its classic South Carolina BBQ dishes, including brisket and pork sandwiches, in a welcoming atmosphere adorned with photos celebrating Sutton’s French Bulldogs.
Hilton Head Island’s beloved Bullies BBQ will reopen on May 1, 2025 after a brief closure. This restaurant, known for its South Carolina BBQ, has been a local favorite since its establishment in 2012.
The founder, Bob Sutton, recently retired and sold the restaurant space at the end of 2022. Following the sale, the restaurant transformed into a completely employee-owned and operated establishment. However, new owners returned the space to Sutton at the end of 2024.
In his return, Sutton is partnering with Jeff Haines, a local businessman who runs a painting and lapidary company. Haines’ daughter, Brisa Adame, will step in as the operations manager of Bullies BBQ.
Bullies BBQ is located in an old gas station at 3 Regency Parkway, directly across from Nectar and in front of the Red Roof Inn. The restaurant will feature a welcoming decor highlighting photos of Sutton’s French Bulldogs, which inspired its name.

Bullies BBQ is renowned for its slow-smoked meats, cooked using Hickory and Mesquite woods. The restaurant will also offer a selection of sauces, from sweet brown sugar to spicier varieties.
Bullies BBQ will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with tentative hours starting at noon on Sundays.
