Exciting Adoption Event Takes Place in Savannah!
This past Saturday, the charming city of Savannah, Georgia buzzed with excitement as One Love Animal Rescue, in collaboration with Chatham Subaru, held a fantastic adoption event! If you’re a dog or cat lover, this was the place to be as many adorable pets were waiting to find their forever homes.
Finding Loving Homes for Special Animals
With around 90 dogs and 60 cats currently under their care, One Love Animal Rescue is committed to saving animals that might otherwise face uncertain futures in kill shelters. They proudly specialize in rescuing pets with special needs and those who require extra care. As a 501c3 non-profit organization with no paid staff, this rescue relies entirely on dedicated volunteers who train, vaccinate, and spay/neuter these lovable animals before they go up for adoption.
The Importance of Community Involvement
One of the key figures at the event, Christina Dolan, the Board Vice President of One Love Animal Rescue, emphasized the need for community support. “We provide all supplies, we help you take them to the vet, and we help you get them adopted. And we could really use community support because it’s a community issue,” Christina explained enthusiastically. “We’d love to see more people step up so we can save more animals.”
Christina also pointed out that many of the dogs available for adoption were rescued from GARD property, where they wouldn’t have had a chance otherwise. So far, the organization has successfully saved an amazing 104 dogs from there and transported them to safety. It’s truly heartwarming to know that such efforts are being made to give these furry pals a new lease on life.
A Partnership for Paws
Chatham Subaru is stepping in to help as well! The General Manager, Theeo Zamora, shared the joy of sponsoring the event. “One of the things we try to do as fosters is work a lot with our animals. We have a trainer that helps socializing them. It’s important for us because we believe that socialization is key to getting them ready to be adopted.”
The partnership emphasizes the Subaru Loves Pets initiative, which highlights the importance of pet adoption and care within the community. “We’re just happy to be part of it,” Zamora added, showcasing the sense of togetherness in helping local homeless pets.
Adopt, Don’t Shop
As people strolled through the lively event, it became clear that there were plenty of adoptable pets just waiting for someone to take them home. “Sometimes we think if they’re at the shelter, it’s because they’re bad dogs or have behavioral issues, when that’s really not the case,” Christina shared. “Many factors beyond their control can lead to these situations.”
Looking Ahead with Hope
Many delightful faces were ready to find loving families with open arms. The community really came together to not only raise awareness about pet adoption but to participate by filling their hearts with a new companion. Those interested in adopting or fostering can easily reach out to One Love Animal Rescue through their social media channels or by visiting their website.
In conclusion, it’s clear that events like these make a significant impact not just on the animals but on the community as well. By spreading the message about pet adoption, everyone involved hopes to increase awareness and encourage more people to consider adopting from shelters, ultimately giving these furry friends the loving homes they deserve.
