Ridgeland, South Carolina – Barbara E. Stonesifer, a celebrated pianist and artist, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at the Friends of Caroline Hospice in Ridgeland, South Carolina. She was 85 years old.
Born Barbara Ellen Williams on June 20, 1939, in Springfield, Illinois, Stonesifer was the cherished daughter of Ken Williams and Maxine Hart. From a young age, she exhibited a remarkable talent for music, which would go on to bring joy and inspiration to countless individuals over her lifetime.
Stonesifer’s journey took her to various locations, starting with a move to Kansas where she married a young Naval Officer in 1958. This marriage led her to live in several places, including Rhode Island, New Zealand, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, enriching her life experiences both personally and musically. Her career as a pianist blossomed after being discovered by a piano tuner, allowing her to share her talents professionally for decades. Alongside her musical prowess, Stonesifer was also recognized as an artist who drew significant comfort and inspiration from her faith.
In 1979, after her divorce, she married Raymond Stonesifer, with whom she celebrated 30 years of marriage until his death in 2015. Following his passing, Stonesifer relocated to South Carolina in early 2024 to be nearer to her daughter in Hilton Head Island.
Stonesifer is survived by three children: John Jaminet II of Wisconsin, Susan Sterkenberg of South Carolina, and Barry Jaminet of North Carolina. Additionally, she is survived by her sister Anne Smith of Illinois, her brother Les of Missouri, a nephew Rick, two nieces LeAnne and Jennifer, five grandchildren, and a great grandbaby expected in October of this year. She was preceded in death by her older brother, Kenny Williams.
Arrangements for her private interment will take place at Gravel Hill Cemetery in Palmyra, Pennsylvania, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Raymond Stonesifer. The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to the Rothermel-Finkenbiner Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. in Palmyra, Pennsylvania.
