HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Voters across Hilton Head Island and the rest of Beaufort County can begin casting ballots Monday, Oct. 19, for the Nov. 3 general election, which includes local town races and the county sheriff contest.

The early window lasts through Saturday, Oct. 31. No special excuse is required. Anyone who is registered and brings a valid photo ID may vote early in person at any of the four county centers.

County elections staff list locations in Beaufort on John Galt Road, at the library branch in Bluffton on Palmetto Way, in Room 115 of the USCB Hilton Head campus on Sand Shark Drive, and at the library branch on St. Helena Island.

Doors are open from 8:30 in the morning until 6 at night each day Monday-Saturday. The sites are not locked to an Election Day precinct, so residents may pick whichever location fits their schedule.

The State Election Commission is urging South Carolinians to plan ahead for the statewide early period. Acceptable photo ID includes a South Carolina driver’s license, a DMV identification card, a voter registration card with a photo, a federal military ID or a U.S. passport.

Sample ballots and Election Day polling places are available through the state elections site once voters enter registration-card details. Election Day itself remains Tuesday, Nov. 3.
