HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Hilton Head’s Gullah museum is marking a decade of its food festival on Saturday, Oct. 17, with gates open late morning through midafternoon at 12 Georgianna Drive. Plates, music and storytelling share the grounds with the museum exhibits.

Board chair Meldon Hollis and event leaders frame the day as a living heritage celebration rather than a simple tasting. Planned draws include Lowcountry dishes such as conch stew plus shrimp and grits, live performances, crafts tables and a bounce house for kids.

Storytelling slots feature Aunt Pearly Sue and Harriet Tubman interpretations by Sister Corora Miller, plus tours of the museum’s roughly 94-year-old blue house. Guests can park across the street and ride a shuttle onto the campus.

Adult tickets cost fifteen dollars and youth ages 5 to 15 cost five dollars through the museum event page. Organizers are pitching the festival to families, food fans and anyone wanting a direct look at Gullah culture on Hilton Head.
