The RBC Heritage, a long-standing fixture on Hilton Head Island, has been officially added to the PGA Tour’s regular-season Championship Series, with its elevated status beginning in 2028. This announcement, made on September 3, 2026, solidifies the tournament’s position among the league’s top-tier events.

Tournament director Steve Wilmot expressed honor at the inclusion, noting it reflects the strength of the event and the support from its sponsors, volunteers, and loyal fans. The Heritage has been held at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island since 1969, typically taking place in mid-April, the week following The Masters.

The RBC Heritage is one of nine regular-season events to join the Championship Series. This new tier of tournaments complements the four major championships and The Players Championship. Other events in the series include the Memorial, Arnold Palmer Invitational, The Sentry, Truist Championship, Cadillac Championship at Doral, Travelers Championship, The GO by Raymond James (formerly the Wyndham Championship), and a yet-to-be-named Sompo-sponsored event.

PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp indicated last week that discussions are ongoing with additional potential partners to finalize the full schedule, which is expected to be announced on February 22. England’s Matt Fitzpatrick is the defending champion of the Heritage.
